Every SatelliteMount Pro product is built around the Starlink Mini: 1.1 kg, 12–48 V DC, IP67, operating to 50 °C. All four tiers share the same aluminium housing footprint — they differ on internals, hardware, cover finish, and warranty.

Does your mount void the Starlink warranty?

No. Our mounts use the Starlink-engineered mount interface — no adhesive on the antenna, no modification to the Starlink unit itself.

Can I move the mount between vehicles?

Yes. With the optional magnetic feet kit you can reposition in minutes. Full-time installs use the M8 bolt-through pattern.

Do I need a step-up converter?

Accepted Answer

No. Starlink Mini accepts 12–48 V DC natively. You can run it straight from a 12V caravan or vehicle battery — no 30V step-up required.

How much power does Starlink Mini draw?

25–40 W average, 60 W input. At 12V that's roughly 3–5 A average.

Will it drain my vehicle battery?

At ~30 W average, roughly 2.5 Ah/hour from 12V. A 100 Ah battery gives ~20–30 hours of continuous use.

Can I hardwire Starlink?

Yes — LowPro, Elite and Captain have built-in Anderson connectors with fused electrical protection. Captain uses a marine IP-rated connector.

LowPro, Elite and Captain ship with inline fuse protection. Captain uses a marine-fused waterproof inline holder.

Do I need to drill?

What roof racks are compatible?

Rhino Rack, Thule, Yakima, ARB, and most aftermarket systems. Captain is also compatible with marine T-tops, radar arches and hardtops via the optional rail clamp kit.

Magnetic feet on aluminium?

Magnetic feet need steel. Use suction or bolt-through for aluminium and fibreglass.

How secure are magnetic feet?

18 kg per foot, 72 kg total. Suitable for highway driving.

Does Starlink Mini overheat?

The Mini's rated operating temperature is up to 50 °C. In Australian sun inside a sealed enclosure, that can be exceeded — thermal throttling drops performance. Active cooling (LowPro, Elite, Captain) prevents it.

Do I need active cooling?

Open ventilation (Standard) is sufficient below ~35 °C. Active cooling is recommended above 35 °C sustained or for full-time remote installs.

Captain has dual fans — why?

Redundancy and higher airflow for marine environments where enclosures stay sealed longer and ambient heat + salt-laden air stress the Starlink Mini harder.

Is the Captain saltwater-rated?

Yes. 5083 marine aluminium housing, 316 stainless hardware throughout, and ASTM B117 salt-spray certification.

Will the Captain fit on my boat?

Universal M8 base works on most hardtops. For T-tops, radar arches and mast rails without drilling, add the optional marine rail clamp kit.

Yes — the Captain is the recommended choice for coastal caravans within 50 km of coast where salt attack is real.
